Ohioans know how to stay safe in the heat. They know to pay special attention to children, older adults, their dogs and cats, and others with higher risks of suffering from heat-related illnesses as the summer solstice brings more hot and humid weather.
But what about your cars, Ohio drivers?
There is a higher demand for emergency roadside assistance due to increased car breakdowns during heat waves, according to AAA.
Intense heat makes your car work a lot harder during the summer. It’s important to keep your car well-maintained and take precautionary measures to avoid breakdowns.
Check your tire air pressure
Besides keeping tires inflated, maintaining proper air pressure helps to regulate tire temperature. Underinflated tires can cause them to overheat, which can increase the likelihood of a blowout.
Check your tires’ air pressure in hot weather conditions and refer to the manufacturer’s placard, found on the driver’s side doorjamb, to see what the air pressure is supposed to be.
