Teens learn driving safety with free training from Ohio Traffic Safety

The Ohio Traffic Safety Office hosted a free teen driver training on Wednesday that taught hands-on crash avoidance techniques. The Advanced Driver Training program provided two four-hour sessions at the Canfield Fairgrounds that allowed teens to practice defensive driving techniques with an experienced instructor.

The program hopes to reduce the amount of teen-involved car accidents across the state. In 2023, there were over 1,500 youth-related crashes in Mahoning county alone, and nearly 30% of all crashes involved drivers under 24, according to the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The program will continue to other counties across the state until September with sessions lasting the whole day.
